These are the responses our group came up with in class.
Q1)-What is responsible for the elimination of most men's teams instead of Title IX?
A1)-A lack of interest in the cut sports.
Q2)-What percentage of schools sought to comply with Title IX by each of 3 prongs? What does this tell us about proportionality/quotas?
A2)-49 out of 74 schools complied with the two prongs that did not involve proportionality. This tell us that Title IX isn't really a quota system.
Q3)-What does Zimbalist say about the NWCA's lawsuit that alleged Title IX installed quotas?
A3)-Zimbalist says the lawsuit is misguided. No quota system is really in tact (p. 55).
Q4)-Do you know the result of the lawsuit?
A4)-It was dismissed (Hawes, 2003).
